Remembering Adrienne Rich
On March 28, 2012, one of the most gifted poets of our time, Adrienne Rich, died at the age of 82. A controversial figure, Rich challenged personal, literary, and political conventions in her work and in her life. In 1997, she famously refused to accept the National Medal of Arts, because, she said, "Art ... means nothing if it simply decorates the dinner table of power which holds it hostage." JWA remembers Adrienne Rich.
